BIOGRAPHY

Brittany Sterling Young is a classically-trained violinist with a wide range of performance experience in opera, orchestra, chamber, and solo music formats. Performing both in the United States and Europe, Ms. Young’s journey as a violinist has taken her to the Italian Alps in the summers, where she plays with the Trentino Music Festival and will serve concertmistress for the festival’s orchestra in Summer 2024. In addition to her performance pursuits, Ms. Young is a violin teacher and maintains a studio of private students, and is the proud founder of an intergenerational music program known as S.M.I.L.E. (Sharing Music, an Intergenerational Learning Experience) which unites young musicians and seniors. She has also had experience as a composer and producer of electronic music. 

 

Ms. Young was named the winner of the 2020 Catholic University Concerto Competition and performed the Sibelius Violin Concerto in Spring 2021.  She received her Bachelor of Music degree in 2017 from The Catholic University of America, where she studied with world renowned Italian violinist Alessandra Cuffaro. She received her Master of Music degree from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee in May 2023, where she studied with Markus Placci, and will pursue her Doctor of Musical Arts degree beginning Fall 2024 at George Mason University, where she will study with June Huang.
